I have made a lot of mistakes with my pet rats over the years.
Everything from feeding my rats the food that pet stores recommended (because they were experts on rats, right? *facepalm*) to giving them regular baths (did you know that in most cases you're not supposed to bathe your rats?).
Rat guardianship has been a great deal of trial and error, independent research, and applying new knowledge to do better by my pets.
Fast forward a decade, I now run a foster-based rat rescue, Second Chance Heroes Rat Adoptions, and have fostered and rehomed more than 500 rats! I would never say I'm a perfect rat guardian, but it's safe to say, with that much experience I've learned a LOT about proper rat care.
And I have taken that knowledge and put it into Becoming Your Rat's Best Friend.
In Becoming Your Rat's Best Friend you will learn the tricks of the trade that come with 15 years of research and experience - and a whole lot of trial and error! You'll learn everything from safety precautions, housing standards, and what to feed your rats, to understanding how rats' vision differs from ours, why a rat may bite, and so much more!
This course is perfect for first time rat parents who want to get started on the right foot with their new friends, but even experienced rat guardians will learn something new!
This is a video-based course where you will learn directly from me and my experiences, and by joining this course you will be supporting our work at Second Chance Heroes, providing safe and loving homes for rats in need!Â
"This course is an absolutely invaluable asset for all rat lovers - whether you are a prospective rat guardian considering bringing rats into your home for the very first time, or someone who has shared your life with rats for years - you will find a wealth of information here & learn how to truly become your rat's best friend! All aspects of rat care are covered in great detail. Drawing on her extensive experience & education, Eva presents a well-designed & quite intensive course, covering six major keys - environment, nutrition, behavior, health, enrichment, and handling. Each key is broken down into further individual lessons. This course covers a LOT of material - you will surely want to go back & review individual lessons again & again! Presentation is both highly informative & quite enjoyable. Detailed information is given regarding every aspect of rat care, including specific recommendations for cages, foods, treats, etc - but equally, if not more important, you are given the knowledge you need to make your own well-informed choices. As just one simple example, several specific high-quality rat food brands are recommended, but you are also given the precise information you need to be able to look at any brand of rat food & to be able to determine whether or not it is a healthy food for your rat. Personally, I particularly enjoyed the lessons on understanding rat behavior & trust building. I will be re-watching this course again &again, either in whole, or individual lessons one or two at a time - there really is *that* much to be learned from it! I highly recommend this excellent resource to anyone who has any interest in rats!"
